PROVIDENCIALES, TCI. August 14, 2024: Provo Water Company (PWC) welcomed stakeholders to a crucial town hall meeting held on July 30, 2024, at the Gustarvus Lightbourne Sports Complex in downtown Providenciales.
Robert Hall, Managing Director of PWC, hosted the Tuesday evening event which served as a platform for transparent communication between PWC and its customers, ensuring that concerns were heard and addressed directly by the organization and its top officials. With a focus on community engagement, the meeting aimed to foster understanding and collaboration in overcoming the water-related issues faced by the island in recent months.
Hall began the meeting by acknowledging recent water pressure issues and expressing gratitude to customers for their patience during the network enhancement process. In his presentation, Hall detailed various improvement projects, including the installation of wider pipes to optimize flow, larger valves to alleviate bottlenecks, upgraded booster systems ensuring consistent pressure at the network’s periphery, and the forthcoming construction of a new production plant in northwest Providenciales.
He further shared insights into the specific challenges impacting the water distribution system and outlined the strategic initiatives being implemented to enhance system’s resilience and ensure longevity in the infrastructure. Attendees had the opportunity to engage in constructive dialogue, pose questions, and offer feedback, facilitating a two-way exchange of information crucial for building trust and mutual understanding.
In a move towards greater accessibility, the event was also live-streamed on Facebook, allowing a wider audience to participate virtually and stay informed about the discussions that arose from the meeting. Addressing concerns about pipeline work under sections of Leeward Highway, he assured customers that all PWC excavation projects include repair plans, ensuring the integrity and functionality of the infrastructure.
