InterHealth Canada – Turks and Caicos Islands Hospital is delighted to partner with the Ministry of Education, Youth, Sports, Library Services and Culture’s National Internship and Apprenticeship Programme, a groundbreaking initiative designed to provide invaluable training opportunities for seventeen Science University students and one Business Student. These students are currently at their halfway mark at The Cheshire Hall Medical Centre, engaging in specialized training in various critical areas within the hospital
setting.
In this transformative collaboration, the University students are gaining practical experiences across critical departments, including Laboratory (with comprehensive training in phlebotomy), Medical Reprocessing, Pharmacy (inclusive of the creation of chemotherapy), Imaging Department, Physiotherapy Department, and Nursing rotations within the inpatient units. The sole business student actively participates in rotations throughout the Hospital’s administrative spectrum.
The dynamic National Internship and Apprenticeship Programme, generously funded by the Turks and Caicos Islands Government, unfolds over six weeks. Select students eagerly opt to extend their stay for an enriching six-month stint to deepen their expertise and grasp of essential careers in healthcare.
