MANHUNT on for Jouvely Inelus

#TurksandCaicos, July 5, 2024 – It’s been only 40 days since a 12-member jury found Jouvely Inelus, 31 not guilty of murder; ruling there was not compelling evidence that the man on trial had gunned down Brian “BJ” Williams in November  2022.

On Monday, July 1 TCI Police announced they are hunting Inelus, as a person of interest for a string of serious crimes.

The wanted posted said, “the subject is wanted for questioning in an ongoing investigation and is believed to be armed and dangerous.”

Others say, Inelus is wanted for questioning in not one, but several vicious murders; seven men killed over the last two weeks.

At the start of the trial, court documents  outlined that the Blue Hills, Providenciales man was formally charged by officers of the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force on Saturday November 12th, 2022 with the murder of Brian Leon Williams Jr. In addition to murder, Inelus also faced four counts of firearm-related offences namely: Discharging a Firearm, Discharging Ammunition, Carrying a Firearm and Carrying Ammunition.

The homicide of Williams took place on Thursday November 3rd 2022, Williams Jr. was shot and killed at a location known as Enid Forbes Yard, Hopeland Close, Blue Hills, Providenciales.

Up to Friday, Inelus was still wanted by authorities.

Update on Fire at Providenciales Landfill Site

Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands – Monday, 8 July 2024:  On Saturday, 7th July 2024, at 12:10 am, the Environmental Health Department (EHD) was informed of a fire at the Providenciales landfill. The fire was identified by the landfill contractor, TCI Green Ecological. The fire is located on the east side of the landfill on the edge of the active cell.

The Acting Minister of Health, Honourable Kyle Knowles, and the Environmental Health Department advises residents of Providenciales, especially those living in the Wheeland Phase 2 area, that the Department and TCI Green Ecological are urgently addressing the fire at the disposal site with assistance from all stakeholders. As of this press release, the fire is approximately 60% contained. Residents are reminded to keep doors and windows closed to avoid potential smoke exposure while efforts to control the fire continue.

Discharge of Firearm

July 06th, 2024.

 

Shortly after  10:00 p.m. yesterday ( Friday 05th July 2024), the Police Control Room received a report of gunshots being heard at the TCI Disposal and Solid Waste, located along Millennium Highway, Blue Hills.

Officers and medical personnel responded, and based on preliminary investigations, a truck transporting a male occupant entered the dump and started offloading items.

An employee at the dump site confronted the occupant. However, he was shot at. The employee managed to escape. Thankfully, he was not injured.

This remains an active investigation.

The RTCIPF asks the public to notify the closest police station, contact 911, the Serious Crime Unit at 231-1842, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477, and anonymously give any information on illegal activity.

Additionally, persons are encouraged to download the CrimeStoppers P3 app and share information anonymously.

Male Succumbs to Injuries

The Serious Crimes Unit of the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force has launched an investigation into the tragic shooting death of a male resident in Five Cays this evening.

Preliminary reports indicate that the incident occurred shortly after 7:00 PM.

The 38-year-old victim was at his home located along Five Cays Road when a lone gunman approached and shot him.

RT&CIPF officers and emergency services were promptly dispatched to the scene, and the victim was rushed to the Cheshire Hall Medical Centre for treatment.

The victim succumbed to his injuries shortly after 8:00 PM. The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. Our thoughts and condolences go out to the family and friends of the deceased during this difficult time.

Residents of Five Cays and surrounding areas are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or information about the incident to the RT&CIPF.

Anyone with information about the shooting is encouraged to contact the closest police station, 911, the Serious Crime Unit at 231-1842, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477 to provide any information anonymously.
