#Bahamas, October 2, 2017 – Nassau – GENERAL SITUATION: A STATIONARY FRONT COMBINED WITH A BROAD AREA OF LOW PRESSURE NORTH OF THE BAHAMAS ALONG WITH A TROPICAL WAVE NEAR THE SOUTHEAST BAHAMAS WILL GENERATE SOME UNSETTLED WEATHER ACROSS THE ISLANDS.

SPECIAL WARNINGS: BEACHGOERS AND MARINERS SHOULD BE ALERT FOR THE RISK OF RIP CURRENTS AND ROUGH SURF ALONG NORTHERN AND EASTERN SHORELINES.

WEATHER:  PARTLY CLOUDY, BREEZY AND WARM WITH FEW PASSING SHOWERS OR ISOLATED THUNDERSTORM LIKELY MAINLY IN THE NORTHWEST AND SOUTHEAST BAHAMAS.

ADVISORY: SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT IN THE NORTHWEST BAHAMAS AND A SMALL CRAFT CAUTION CONTINUES FOR THE CENTRAL AND SOUTHEAST BAHAMAS.

WINDS:                NORTHEAST TO EAST AT 15 TO 25 KNOTS OVER OPEN WATERS, BUT STRONGER IN GUSTS IN THE NORTHWEST BAHAMAS BUT NORTHEAST TO EAST AT 15 TO 20 KNOTS IN THE CENTRAL AND SOUTHEAST BAHAMAS.

SEAS: 5 TO 8 FEET OVER THE OCEAN BUT HIGHER IN GUSTS OVER THE OCEAN IN THE NORTHWEST BAHAMAS AND 4 TO 7 FEET IN THE CENTRAL AND SOUTHEAST BAHAMAS.

WINDS: EASTERLY AT 25 TO 30 KNOTS IN THE NORTHWEST BAHAMAS AND EASTERLY AT 15 TO 25 KNOTS IN THE CENTRAL AND SOUTHEAST BAHAMAS

SEAS: 10 TO 14 FEET IN THE NORTHWEST BAHAMAS AND5 TO 8 FEET IN THE CENTRAL AND SOUTHEAST BAHAMAS.

TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK: A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM COULD FORM BY THE END OF THE WEEK ACROSS THE NORTHWESTERN CARIBBEAN SEA OR THE SOUTHERN GULF OF MEXICO.  THIS AREA HAS A 20% CHANCE OF CYCLONE DEVELOPMENT.  ELSEWHERE, TROPICAL CYCLONE FORMATION IS NOT EXPECTED DURING THE NEXT 5 DAYS.
