Jamaican Government facing 500 cases of baby virus in schools

Providenciales, 08 Oct 2015 – Jamaica has recorded nearly 500 cases of Hand, Foot & Mouth disease among its early childhood centers and the Minister responsible advised parliament that the job now is to watch, not shut down thousands of schools.

Minister, Dr. Fenton Ferguson said his officials will continue school visits, sanitize schools in the country of which there are 2,600 and educate administrators on how to manage and prevent the spread of the infant and baby viral illness.

Some 144 schools in Jamaica are affected by Hand, Foot & Mouth disease – it causes fevers, blister-like eruptions on the tongue, inside cheeks and on the skin.
