Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands, 8th August, 2024 – The Office of the Deputy Governor of the Turks and Caicos Islands is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Stanley Taylor as the new Rehabilitation Manager within the Department of Corrections in the Ministry of Public Safety.
Mr. Taylor, who holds an Associate’s Degree in Social Work (2018) and a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work (Hons.) (2022) from the Turks and Caicos Islands Community College, is currently pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice. He began his career in the Public Service in September 2000 as a Prison Officer and was promoted to Senior Prison Officer in May 2007 before ascending to his current role.
In his remarks following the appointment, Mr. Taylor expressed deep gratitude:
“To God be the glory, for great things He hath done. I give all praise to God for sustaining me through storms and adversities. My sincere thanks to Deputy Governor Mrs. Anya Williams and my Ministry, and to everyone who supported me, both knowingly and unknowingly. I am also grateful to my lecturers at TCICC and my shift mates, whom I leave in capable hands.
To my Mother, Betty Williams-Pena, who saw firsthand, the blood, sweat and tears, day in and day out as I pursued my goals I say thank you. I am grateful to have a support system that believed in me, even when I stopped believing.
As I transition into this new role, I am committed to utilizing my experiences and skills to foster improvement in myself and those around me. My focus will be on addressing the needs of residents through targeted interventions, educational programs, and self-reflection, aiming to reduce recidivism and the stigma associated with incarceration. I am excited to collaborate with a dedicated team and various stakeholders to strengthen prevention strategies and offer support to our youth. Thank you all.”
