November 18, 2021 – Journalists from various parts of the world will meet on the 19th and 20th of November at the 1st International Meeting of Journalists of the African Diaspora to discuss the new ways of communication produced by the diasporic peoples in Brazil and abroad. Even remotely, the activity aims to unite journalists from the International Pan-African Journalism Network with Brazilian journalists in order to discuss proposals and new paths in the field of journalism.
Organized by JP – Network of Journalists for Diversity in Communication, the 1st International Meeting of Journalists from the African Diaspora, divided into eight panels, discusses Journalism in Network; Peripheral, Indigenous and Conflict Regions Journalism; Journalistic Coverage in COVID-19 times; Entertainment and Journalism on TV; Representativeness in Black Independent Media; The Occupation of Black Women in Journalism: new paths, new knowledge; Communicate to Infuse and New Approaches in Communication.
Marcelle Chagas, coordinator of JP and creator of the meeting, explains that “the idea came from discussions held with the international network and the articulation came from the perception of the similarities of the issues of journalistic practice in Brazil and in African and African diaspora countries”.
