Beaches Turks and Caicos Hires 30 Interns through Annual Program
#TurksandCaicos, August 11, 2021 – This year Beaches Turk & Caicos accepted 30 summer interns into its annual internship programme which aims to provide students with the opportunity to experience what it is like to work at an all-inclusive resort as part of a job readiness programme focused on hospitality.
During the six-week programme which returns from hiatus since 2019, students from high school level will have the opportunity to work alongside resort staff in various departments such as Concierge, Spa, Front Office, WaterSports, Cost Control, Food and Beverage, Housekeeping, Public Relations and Entertainment as well as several others.
As such, students were briefed on resort policy and procedure, company mission and vision and coached on career goals and aspirations. I am not certain if you are saying will be brief or were briefed? Is it done?
To date, nearly 1,000 students have successfully completed the paid internship programme since its inception, which also serves as a conduit to increase the local recruitment pool at the resort while developing the next generation of tourism professionals for the Turks and Caicos Islands.
Applicants were required to apply for their preferred positions and later interviewed by the Human Resources department before being placed.
Julianna Musgrove, Training & Development Manager for Beaches Turks and Caicos said, “As a former intern myself I see the true value of this programme for students in the Turks and Caicos Islands. They are afforded the opportunity to work at line levels in the resort, training in specific areas in the front of house as well as in the ‘heart of the house’, equipping them with the necessary insight and entry level skills to succeed in the workplace. This internship is a very special one because we get to engage our students across the islands in a learning initiative that not only provides knowledge but the actual hands-on exposure to be successful on the job.”
Jade Clarke a student at Florida Prep School is the daughter of a BTC team member, and she is hoping the internship programme will steer her in the right direction. She noted; “I applied to this programme hoping to learn and figure out where my space would be if I entered hospitality. I’m interested in human resources and guest relations.”
Each participant will receive a certificate with students the additional opportunity for successful placement to be a part of the resort’s Shining STARS Initiative- a more intensive work study programme. Successful interns are considered for future opportunities at the resort during peak periods and school breaks. The summer internship programme culminates on September 4th.

Lady will launch her award-winning book, King of Soca, in which she is positioned as the ultimate insider, chronicling the evolution of one of the Caribbean’s most iconic entertainers. She will also share her invaluable experiences on nurturing talent, building a brand, and sustaining longevity in the competitive music industry in an intimate fireside chat. Adding further star power to the event is Simon Baptiste, CEO of Question Mark Entertainment, co-founder of ODOS, a global collective network spanning over 1000 professionals in 35 countries, film director, talent manager and creative strategist. Baptiste will bring his expertise to conversations on shaping the region’s creative sector and talent.
