#Providenciales, July 25, 2018 – Turks and Caicos – A session to ready school leaders for the new academic year is in history books now, as Principals and Vice Principals of public primary schools in the Turks and Caicos can now officially begin summer break.  A team from Jamaica was in country to support the tradition in a refueling and retooling workshop and the country’s Education Minister was on hand to endorse the event.

“This is the first of many training sessions that will be taking place here in the Turks and Caicos Islands, and we are grateful to the college in Jamaica that came in and did the training, and we look forward to much more training in the future for our teachers, as well as our Head Masters and Deputy Principals.” – Hon. The Education Leadership Conference was particularly poignant for the principals and vice principals this time around.  Hurricanes Irma and Maria of 2017 devastated government schools across the country to the tune of $4.8 million dollars; two schools remain closed due to the destruction.

The Education Leadership Conference was held at the Blue Haven Resort and worked to boost morale, facilitate discussion on educational advancements and presents ideas on curbing destructive behaviors in students; creating the most healthy and nurturing environment for learning and teaching in public education.
