Condom use now recommended as a prevention to Zika; sexually transmitted case found in Dallas

Providenciales, 03 Feb 2016 – Despite local officials trying to downplay research that Zika virus is indeed a mosquito borne illness which is spread also through sexual intercourse, a case surfaces in Dallas which again confirms otherwise and it comes from the CDC.

The BBC is reporting that a patient infected in Dallas, Texas is likely to have been infected by sexual contact. FoxNews is reporting that a person infected with Zika in Venezuela passed it onto their partner, in Dallas. Health officials in Dallas are reacting to this confirmation with, “Now that we know Zika virus can be transmitted through sex, this increases our awareness campaign in educating the public about protecting themselves and others.”

In fact, the Dallas County Health Services Director is recommending the use of a condom, which is the best prevention method against any sexually transmitted infection.

It is reported that the WHO estimates there could be up to 4 million cases of Zika in the Americas in the next year. Officials said people can avoid the Zika virus by protecting against mosquito bites and avoiding sexual contact with those infected.
