TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS, OCTOBER 8, 2013-This week is being recognized as Food Safety week and the Department of Environmental Health will be carrying out a month long inspection on restaurants throughout the country. Director of Environmental Health, Kenrick Neely, at a press conference said the department has conducted inspections throughout the year on restaurants to monitor food safety but the initiative falls in line with food safety week this time. The measure will aid the department to determine the health and food safety status of restaurants in the country and will provide figures on the number of eateries throughout the islands. The department admitted that it will be conducting these inspections despite being under staffed for the work.
