#TurksandCaicos, May 16, 2018 – Grand Turk – The Ministry of Tourism is saddened by the tragic watersport mishap involving jet skis that occurred on the island of Grand Turk on Wednesday 16th May 2018, which resulted in the loss of life of a visitor to our shores. The matter is currently being investigated by the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force; hence no details have been released. The Ministry encourages anyone that witnessed the incident to kindly contact the police.
The Minister of Tourism, Hon. Ralph Higgs expressed his shock in learning of the unfortunate mishap and ask that residents keep the family in their prayers. He further asked that the community allow the grieving family time to contact their loved ones and refrain from speculation.
A number of key agencies such as the DECR, Tourism and Maritime Department recognizes the importance of taking the necessary precautions to ensure safety on the water and will be hosting workshops to further increase awareness.
The Ministry of Tourism in general and the Turks and Caicos Tourist Board in particular will continue to offer assistance to the family in any way possible and we extend our heartfelt sympathy to the grieving family.
