#UnitedKingdom, October 28, 2022 – Hours after meeting with King Charles lll and being invited by the monarch to take charge of Britain and form a new government Rishi Sunak rapidly reshuffled MPs to create his new Cabinet.

UK Media reports indicated that in the hours since the beginning of Sunak’s premiership, the pound is rapidly gaining against the dollar. A definite good sign.

In his first speech as Prime Minister after meeting with the head of state, King Charles III, Rishi Sunak told the public there would be ‘difficult decisions ahead’ because of the country’s economic state. From his former post as finance minister the new PM is known for not shying away from high taxes to get the economy under control.

After calls from the Liberal Party highlighted Sunak had not had a mandate when he was elected, the prime minister said economic stability was at the heart of his government’s agenda and he would be going back to the party’s manifesto to guide his mandate which would include.

“A stronger NHS, better schools, safer streets, control of our borders, protection of our environment, supporting our armed forces, leveling up and building an economy— where businesses invest, innovate and create jobs,” he said

The Prime Minister in his previous run for the top spot said he had no intention of lowering taxes until Britain was comfortably paying back its debts. While claiming that he admired Liz Truss’ ‘restlessness to create change’ Sunak said some mistakes were made.

“I was elected leader and your Prime Minister in part to fix them, that work begins immediately.”

Several Truss-era officials have already been removed from the Cabinet and others have resigned voluntarily

In terms of direct effects to the TCI, Jeremy Quinn who met with Washington Misick, Turks and Caicos Premier about crime is no longer the Policing Minister but Paymaster General.

Jesse Norman who served as Minister of State for the Americas and the Overseas Territories and also has a relationship with Premier Misick in regards to the crime situation in the TCI and is now Transport Minister.

Governor Nigel Dakin had said the meetings with the two men would put the Turks and Caicos in a favorable position for the year ahead.
