BTC Celebrates Small & Medium Businesses

SMB’s encouraged to Work Smarter, Not Harder

 

Nassau, Bahamas (October 18th, 2022) – BTC started a tradition celebrating small businesses each October several years ago, and the company is at the halfway mark of this year’s activities. Small businesses account for more than 80% of the BTC business clientele. This month, the company kicked off its activities under the theme, “Work Smarter, Not Harder”.

We’ve been hosting several smaller events all summer long, leading up to our big InKnowVation Conference later this month. At InKnowVation, small business customers will learn how to make money moves from our keynote speakers, gain digital “know-how” from our expert workshops, and have the opportunity to pitch their business to win cash, free business connectivity and so much more. We are providing our small business customers with the tools to work smart and not hard, as we provide them with even more value. Customers will soon experience upgraded bundled plans providing even faster broadband speeds, and unlimited mobile plans. We’ve recently increased our handset credits, making it more affordable for our customers to purchase mobile devices.”

All small business customers have access to BTC’s suite of smart solutions. These include a free customized website and online store, business email pro which provides ten email addresses using the client’s .com domain with built-in anti-spam filters, and e-marketing pro allowing the customer to attract more clients with custom-made digital marketing campaigns along with SEO and Google Business tools.

This year’s InKnowVation conference will be held on Friday, October 28th live at Baha Mar and via an interactive live stream for the entire Caribbean. There is an exciting line-up of speakers including Donatello Antonio, also known as “The King of Content” and Mimi Brown-Davis, also known as “Coach Mimi”. Antonio will speak on “Captivating Content, Supercharged Sales”, and Brown-Davis will share on “Showcasing your business at its best with Canva”. SMB customers will also have the opportunity to win over $15,000 in cash and prizes in the pitch challenge.

BTC held its Small Business Master Class in September. The event provided useful tips on how to position a business for success. More than 200 small businesses took advantage of this opportunity. The master class featured a number of local and international business experts including, Kenny St. Mark, brand architect, Ianthia Ferguson media coach, and content creator, Kevin McKinney from Bahamas Development Bank and Heather Bowles from Bahaprintz. Keron Rose, Flow & BTC social media ambassador, a well-respected marketer, and e-commerce specialist, and Lisa Etsy, smart solutions expert also took part in the master class. Small businesses were able to learn more about funding opportunities, how to maximize media opportunities and how to market their businesses.

Bahamas economic growth

The Bahamas’ economy is in good standing according to reports from the Bahamas National Statistical Institute which released the Quarterly Gross Domestic Product Series. They indicate that quarterly GDP trends for 2023 saw increases compared to 2022, a sign of recovery from the Covid 19 pandemic.

The most significant increase was 9.9 percent in the first quarter of 2023, and the industries responsible for the growth include Accommodations and food, construction and Arts.

In just a few days, athletes from over fifty countries will converge in The Bahamas for the BTC World Athletic Relays Bahamas 24. C&W Communications, the parent company of BTC, is proud to be associated with this major event, which will see athletes from The Bahamas, Barbados, Jamaica, and Trinidad & Tobago competing for a place in the upcoming Olympic games in Paris.

Inge Smidts, CEO of C&W Communications, who also serves as Chair of the BTC Board of Directors will be in the stands to witness the highly anticipated relays. BTC has hosted a special event just for the Caribbean athletes, at the newly renovated Queen’s Staircase in Nassau, a recently renovated historic landmark visited by thousands of tourists each day. This event gave athletes the opportunity to unwind, mingle, and to learn more about each other right before the competition.

This is the fourth time that BTC and its parent company C&W Communications have title sponsored the world relays. The BTC World Athletic Relays will be held at the Thomas A. Robinson Track & Field Stadium from May 4-5, under the theme, “Chase the Sun, from Paradise to Paris.”

RBC appoints new Country Manager and Area Vice President for Turks & Caicos
