The Minister also gifted outgoing Chairman, Kenneth Bryan, Minister of Tourism, Cayman Islands, with a token from the Turks and Caicos
Islands in appreciation for his work and support while at the helm of the CTO over the last two years.
Sitting on the panel entitled Women in Leadership: Lessons for Leadership and Legacy, moderated by Secretary General of the CTO Ms. Dona Regis-Prosper, the Honourable Josephine Connolly spoke about the influence of her father and sister, both politicians, on her entry into politics.
The Minister urged young women to keep their eye on the prize and advised them that once they are given an opportunity, do it to the best of their ability.
“This year’s SOTIC was a very productive one and I am proud of the way the Turks and Caicos Islands stood out. The CTO is an important organisation that demonstrates strength in unity. I wish the new Chairman, the Honourable Ian Gooding-Edghill, all the best and I look forward to him continuing the work the Honourable Kenneth Bryan started in bringing more Caribbean islands under one umbrella,” the Minister said.
A major highlight of SOTIC was the Regional Youth Tourism Congress in which our Youth Ambassador Miss Ade Cushnie participated. Her presentation focused on the Blue Economy. The representative from Nevis, Keyana Warner, won the competition.
While at SOTIC, the Turks and Caicos delegation took the opportunity to engage in interviews with journalists from Latin America, Canada and the UK as well as meetings with service providers keen to do business with the Turks and Caicos Islands.
