Turks and Caicos, August 15, 2024 – Work of the Turks and Caicos Islands Football Association (TCIFA), has been bolstered by a donation of $25,000 from Beaches TCI, which will be used to organise games for the 2024-25 season.
General Manager for Beaches TCI, James McAnally said his company is “very enthusiastic” about the football association in the TCI, and they saw an opportunity to contribute to its growth.
“And we want to do everything to make that happens for the upcoming season. We hope that the Association continues to grow with more teams, as we continue to build out these leagues,” he said.
Noting that the Association now has four teams, coming down from five, Mr. McAnally said the group has the capacity to get to seven or eight. “There is room to grow,” the General Manager stated.
He told his audience that while growing up, he had opportunities provided by the sport, stressing that he was “very involved in sport,” as he called on other entities to investment in the Association. “We hope that this donation helps to make it a continued success,” he said.
For his part, President of the Provo Premier League (TCIFA), Patrick Baptiste, described the donation as “timely” as they want to get youth at an early age to participate in the “world biggest sport. We really appreciate Beaches TCI for assisting the Association. This will go a far way,” the president said.
He said the Association is on an expansion drive to move to at least two additional teams for the current football season, and with the donated funds “we will go from strength to strength,” he said.
Also on hand for the presentations and signing were: Aaron Lawrence, Goal Keeper Coach and Senior Men’s and Women’s Team coach and Dane Ritchie, TCIFA Technical Director.
