#TurksandCaicos, December 21, 2023 – Clutched in his hand, his phone rang incessantly after his death, according to residents of Kew Town as they led the Magnetic Media News team through the events of December 15, the kidnapping ordeal that left one man dead.

When our Court Correspondent Wilkie Arthur arrived at the scene the day after, residents pointed out a blue house tucked into the brush of Kew Town.  There, they say, is where the female victim was snatched from her home.  The residents tell us officers knew of the house, having been there before, responding to civil disagreements.

While the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force has not commented on the motive behind the kidnapping, which is highly unusual in the Turks and Caicos, neighbors speaking to us say it may have been the result of a domestic feud.

Witnesses tell us the perpetrators, hiding in the bushes, shot at police first upon their arrival.  Return fire from the police resulted in the death of one man.  Whether he was just passing by at the wrong time or involved in the kidnapping has not been confirmed.  Multiple residents have reached out to our news team, expressing shock at his death and describing him as an upstanding citizen.

Those who were there that night are more suspicious.  They report never having seen the man in the area before the crime occurred, and several queried why he was there during the melee.

A trip to the site of the killing revealed blood stains where the man died; his phone still ringing as loved ones likely tried to reach him.

The victim of the kidnapping was rushed to hospital by police after being rescued, it is reported she was beaten by her captors and left with injuries to the face.

As for the perpetrators, no one has been brought in by police yet.
