Ministry of Home Affairs Launches Local Government Questionnaire to Engage the Turks and Caicos Islands’ Public

#TurksandCaicos, August 17, 2023 – The Ministry of Home Affairs is pleased to announce the launch of a comprehensive Questionnaire, designed to gather valuable insights and opinions of the Turks and Caicos Islands general public on the advancement of the “Local Government”. This questionnaire, which will be accessible for a period of twenty-one (21) days from August 2nd, aims to foster a deeper understanding of the aspirations and concerns of our citizens and to ensure their voices play a crucial role in shaping the future of local governance in our beautiful nation.

The Turks and Caicos Islands Government recognizes the importance of effective local governance, where the decisions made at the community level have a direct impact on the lives of our citizens. As part of our commitment to promoting transparency, inclusivity, and citizen participation, this questionnaire seeks to create an open platform for every individual to express their thoughts and ideas on matters related to local governance.

The questionnaire will cover a wide range of topics, including but not limited to:

The make-up of the Local Government Council 

Budget allocation and financial accountability

Local services and infrastructure

Community development and planning

Environmental preservation and sustainability

Citizen engagement and representation

Public safety and security
