#TurksandCaicos, July 17, 2023 – The Government is considering a futuristic waste plan for the Turks and Caicos Islands with a suite of new benefits for residents according to recent updates from the Cabinet.

The Cabinet was on June 27th presented with a waste management proposal that they say would not only produce zero-emissions, but be environment friendly, and significantly have the capacity to clear existing landfills.

Along with that major announcement the process would:

  • generate electricity,
  • create employment opportunities and
  •  produce various waste products which can be used in the construction and agricultural sector.

The Government did not go into detail about what the process entailed or the timeline and cost factors but the proposal alone if successful, would help balm several big ticket issues that residents have been complaining about, including the perpetually burning landfills that push disgusting smoke into the surrounding area and high electricity costs.

It would also help the burgeoning agricultural industry as the Government pushes the idea of more backyard farms across the country.
