#USA, May 5, 2023 – Unvaccinated individuals are happy to hear it they say, as those shunning the Covid-19 vaccine will, in a matter of days, be able to enter the United States without having to prove they are vaccinated.

The United States will be free to enter without the vaccine next week, as the Biden administration has announced it will end the vaccination mandate for international air travelers on May 11.

The requirement had been in place since 2021 as the country battled some of the highest global COVID-19 numbers in the world. Vaccine mandates were standard fare for entry into most countries midway into the first three-years of the pandemic.

Mandates began to expire or be canceled in 2022;  the US and Turks and Caicos were two of  the last countries holding on to the mandates into 2023.

The TCI ended its mandate on March 31, the US had previously announced it would consider letting the mandate expire as they declared the emergency leg of the pandemic over. On May 11th, the Pandemic-related Public Health Emergency order will be terminated as well.

The country had given up mandating mask wearing while on public transport several months prior to the decision, and the US Centres for Disease Control (CDC) had lessened the requirements under the mandate to a single dose instead of double doses several weeks before the announcement.

The United States has had one of the largest reported death tolls from the COVID-19 pandemic, with 1.13 million lives lost over three years from 104 million cases. The CDC says the country is still averaging 88 thousand cases and over a thousand deaths weekly, reportedly due to the coronavirus.

As the emergency is declared over, the US Government will stop subsidizing vaccine costs which are set to skyrocket in price following announcements from Pfizer and Moderna despite high level attempts to stop the increases.
