#UnitedKingdom, May 30, 2023 – The Caribbean region’s talent and potential to dominate shone through at the Royal Horticultural Society 2023 Chelsea Flower Show as Barbados, Grenada, and Trinidad and Tobago came out on top, each landing a gold medal.

Barbados’  exhibit, paying homage to the island’s traditional craft of pottery with a display of beautiful flowers and greenery in locally made clay soil pots, is to thank for the country’s win. The presentation was titled “Barbados…every Bloomin’ Pot.”

Barbados now has 21 Gold Medals, 12 Silver-Gilt. and one Silver in 34 appearances at the flower show, according to the Barbados Horticulture Society.

The winning display for Grenada was titled “Tribute to Grenada’s Greenery Reserves.”

The High Commissioner for Grenada in the United Kingdom in a post made sure to highlight that this is the country’s 16th gold medal (to date).

For Trinidad and Tobago, its display called “This Our Native Land,” gave the country its gold.  This is an emotional win for them as expressed by team leader Tony Tang Kai, who said the win is even more significant due to the loss of Bernard Beckles, the team’s design lead earlier this month.

He highlighted that he and Becca conceptualized the theme which represents  the tropical paradise of Trinidad and Tobago,  featuring  tropical foods and flowers.

The flower show was held in the United Kingdom on Monday May 22nd, 2023.
