#TurksandCaicos, May 1, 2023 – A Turks and Caicos teenager survived a shocking Wednesday night gun attack in Five Cays; the car she was in was sprayed with bullets and she got hit and was rushed to hospital.

The Serious Crimes Unit is investigating the possible road rage incident which left the teenage girl with a gunshot wound. In an update issued Thursday morning, the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police explained that the 15-year-old girl had turned up at the Cheshire Hall Medical Centre bleeding; that was around 9:47 pm and staff quickly called the police.

According to the police, the young girl and a friend were driving into Five Cays, Providenciales, in the vicinity of the roundabout, when another car pulled up beside them and started shooting. Shortly before the violent attack, the two cars had been involved in a traffic altercation.

While police aren’t clear on the motive yet, they say it is likely the shooting which put a school-aged child in the hospital is related to that incident. Thankfully the teenager’s injuries, while serious, were not life-threatening.

Police need help in making an arrest as the shooter is still on the loose.
