#Jamaica, April 21, 2023 – The US$12.7 million fraud at Stocks and Services Limited (SSL) involving Olympic superstar Usain Bolt remains under investigation by the FBI.  The Financial Services Limited in Jamaica had taken over SSL on January 17, 2023, after a letter was sent giving them ten days to return Bolt’s missing funds.

After admitting that this situation had put a “damper” on him, Bolt fired his Business Manager in what was described as a ‘not a kind split’.  He explained that the account was his retirement fund, which was supposed to be used to take care of his three children and his parents.

A former SSL employee, Jean-Ann Panton, came forward on January 10 and confessed to the fraud involving 40 other clients.  Later in her hearing at the Supreme Court in downtown Kingston on February 17, Panton claimed the money she took did not come from Bolt’s account.

She was charged with larceny and fraud and has been denied bail.

The case was announced for mentioned again on April 19.

To date, the track star’s funds have not been recovered.
