#UnitedKingdom, January 15, 2023 – Last year was the warmest year ever for the United Kingdom the country’s Met Office has confirmed, releasing the figures on December 28th.

During summer heatwaves set buildings on fire and caused multiple heat strokes in the UK.

Not only did 2022 set a new 139-year annual mean temperature record it was the warmest year on record in the 364-year Central England temperature series from 1659 which the Met Office says is the world’s longest instrumental record of temperature.

Temperature records are already being set across Europe for the warmest New Year ever. As for about much of that was caused by human action; the Met says greenhouse gas emissions and other human activity that harmed the environment ‘made the UK’s record-breaking annual temperature around 160 times more likely’

Even with the forecast there’s not likely to be any record from bitingly cold winters as temperature fluctuations caused by climate change shove the scale to opposite extremes.

For example the UK experienced it’s coldest day in over a decade on December 12th.
