December 19, 2022 – Weather in the United States has continued to worsen and is expected to stay freezing this week according to updates from the national weather service.

Not only is snow expected to continue this week a new winter storm is expected to hit by Wednesday compounding the cold effect.  Wind chill temperatures as low as 60 degrees below zero are possible in the far north. The cold is expected to come even more south this week, bringing ‘dangerously cold temps & wind chills across the Central & Eastern U.S.’.

So far the US National Weather Service has not issued warnings or advice to ground aircraft completely. But there were more than 3500 delays and more than 150 cancellations out of The United States on Sunday alone.

Nineteen tornadoes have touched down since last week and the National Weather Service says the new storm is bringing “A major storm system is forecast to impact much of the Nation leading up to Christmas Eve, with widespread gusty winds, areas of heavy rain and heavy snow, as well as bitter cold in its wake”

Weather is the major reason for all cancellations and delays by plane.  It is likely this ripples from this arctic blast will stymie travel plans, including those made for the Turks and Caicos Islands.
