#USA, October 28, 2022 – A major autumn chill is passing through the United States after a summer of record-breaking heat. The national weather service is warning that the highest temperatures this week will be at least 10° to 15° lower than normal.

Severe storms and heavy rain are expected in the south while the Northwest will remain unsettled with showers and mountain snow.

“An early season snowstorm is set to enter the Pacific Northwest on Friday and spread across the central/northern Rockies.  Heavy snowfall is forecast to impact areas mainly above 7000 ft in elevation, but snow levels will continue falling through the weekend.” The NHC said.

Montana is covered in snow already.

The southern states will not be spared as temperatures near freezing point are expected for Georgia and Mississippi and cold watches and warnings are expected to spread all the way south to Florida.

Despite this, the cold will affect the west coast most seriously.  NHS Seattle announced the low temperatures with the tweet: “Yeah sweata weatha has arrived”

People may be happy at the cooler temperatures for a while but more than 12 states are expected to be hit with much cooler temperatures than normal this winter and energy bills remain high as do oil prices.  In addition the US just recorded, along with the UK, record breaking inflation.

Energy bills may go even higher as they Organization of Petroleum Exporting States OPEC has cut oil production by two million barrels per day. The US had urged them to reconsider but was unsuccessful.
