#TheBahamas, June 14, 2022 – Several comments have been surfacing the internet where residents are saying Bahamas organizational members were dressed improperly or tardy while representing the country during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Parade in the United Kingdom. The uproar started after a viral image was seen with a marine wearing a pair of light green crocs.

The Royal Bahamas Defence Force and the marine both have responded to the comments.

Mya Gee, the marine, wrote, “I have marched and practiced for 7-9 days in preparation of this event with a blister no matter how well wrapped it was, reopened during these sessions and dug deeper into my heel causing me to bleed.”

She added that the viral photo was not an official photo; she was receiving a gift when it was taken and after posting it to her status, someone screenshotted and reposted it.

The female marine said she was instructed by the British military medic to change since she had been bleeding for a 2.6 mile March with a freshly opened blister.

In response to comments about another organizational member’s attire, the RBDF said, ‘the rig worn by the Commanding Officer is a working rig which was worn during the rehearsals. As noted in an actual recording of the parade both personnel were properly attired and well turned out.”

The RBDF added that “the dress, bearing, conduct, and performance of organizational members is of utmost importance to the Royal Bahamas Defence Force where considerable pride is taken at all times.”
