Tories tortured by election outcome, losing major strongholds to Labour

#UnitedKingdom, May 16, 2022 – Despite his insistence that he will not resign, his COVID19 scandals may have hurt Prime Minister Boris Johnson‘s party anyway as the party lost several key traditional Conservative strongholds in London in local elections held recently. 
Reuters reports that the British Prime Minister is also suffering losing support in south eastern England despite being a former London mayor.
For the first time, the Opposition labor party won the council of Westminster and if that word sounds familiar it’s the district where most of the government institutions are located, another Conservative stronghold.
Labor party leader, Kier Starmer said the result was “absolutely fantastic” and it was a big turning point for his party.
Johnson on the other hand said it had been a “tough night.”
The elections took place on May 5th. Voter turnout was poor with only 33.4% of voters casting a ballot.
