#Providenciales, December 20, 2018 – Turks and Caicos – On Wednesday, December 26th at 3pm, the Grace Bay strip will come alive with heart-pounding drums, whistles, horns, and cowbells as the country celebrates its 8th annual TCHTA Maskanoo Extravaganza for 2018.
Coordinated by cultural enthusiast and emcee David Bowen, TCHTA Maskanoo again promises to be the biggest celebration of the year with vibrant colors and cultural performances attracting a record crowd to enjoy the festive street parade featuring local music, food, performances and fun for all ages.
“This is our 8th year!” said CEO of the Turks & Caicos Hotel and Tourism Association, Stacy Cox. “We are excited to bring TCHTA Maskanoo once again, and we’re looking forward to yet another wonderful celebration for residents and visitors to enjoy.”
“We really are ecstatic about the entertainment lineup this year. We look forward to welcoming the Island Boys, Pro-Vision Band, and also QBand Lynx who will headline the event,” she said.
The show kicks off at 3:00 pm on Grace Bay Road with popular DJ, Uncle El of Subtronic Sound rocking the crowd until the morning. In addition to the headline entertainment, there will be cultural displays, dancing by Oshane and Shanice, plus giveaways galore! There will also be two Maskanoo parades; one will happen earlier in the evening and the other later in the evening.
The event features native craft vendors, children’s treats, food vendors, food trucks, and the popular Turks Head truck.
Cox stresses that security of both residents and visitors is a priority and encourages persons to come and celebrate without worry. “One of the things that we take most seriously is security. As usual, the Royal Turks & Caicos Islands Police Force will be out in full effect along with officers of the Dove security firm. We are also adding additional manpower from the security team for this year’s event.”
The TCHTA CEO reminds residents that the Grace Bay Road between Salt Mills and the Seven Stars Resort will be closed off from 11:00 am to facilitate setup for the event.
Sponsors for this year’s TCHTA Maskanoo celebration include All TCHTA member hotels and the TCI Tourist Board, along with several businesses on the Grace Bay Strip.
