Leslie expected to become hurricane by Tuesday

#AtlanticBasin, Monday October 1, 2018 – NEWS ITEM ON TROPICAL STORM LESLIE ISSUED BY THE BAHAMAS DEPARTMENT OF METEOROLOGY FORECAST OFFICE SECTION, AT 12PM MONDAY 01ST OCTOBER 2018.

…LESLIE EXPECTED TO STRENGTHEN WHILE MOVING SLOWLY OVER THE CENTRAL ATLANTIC…

AT 11:00AM EDT, THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM LESLIE WAS LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 33.2°NORTH AND LONGITUDE 54.3° WEST OR ABOUT 615 MILES EAST OF BERMUDA.  

LESLIE IS MOVING TOWARD THE WEST-SOUTHWEST AT 5 MPH.  A SLOW SOUTHWESTWARD OR SOUTHWARD MOTION IS FORECAST DURING THE NEXT FEW DAYS.

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 60 MILES PER HOUR (MPH) WITH HIGHER GUSTS. GRADUAL STRENGTHENING IS EXPECTED DURING THE NEXT 48 HOURS, AND LESLIE IS FORECAST TO BECOME A HURRICANE ON TUESDAY.
