Freeze on Construction on beaches, review coming

Providenciales, TCI, February 16, 2017Beach access arguments have resulted in a freeze on any new construction in areas blocking access to beaches countrywide.

Cabinet this week approved a moratorium on commercial construction applications along waterfronts to determine how those constructions are impacting the public’s access to the beach.

No beach is private and by law, there must be public access to the beach.  Areas of Chalk Sound have been in the spotlight recently with reports of rental residences blocking public accessibility.
Cabinet has agreed to the freeze until the review is done and subsequent decisions are made.
