PUBLIC ADVISORY: FRAUDULENT AI-GENERATED CONTENT MISUSING GOVERNOR’S LIKENESS

Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands – Monday, 4 August 2025: The Governor’s Office is aware of a fabricated audio and video post currently circulating online, which falsely uses the likeness and voice of Her Excellency, Governor Dileeni Daniel-Selvaratnam. This content, generated using artificial intelligence (AI), falsely claims that Turks and Caicos Islands residents will begin receiving income from taxes and that the Government is backing a specific investment platform.

We wish to categorically state that this post is entirely false. The voice and image of the Governor have been digitally cloned without authorisation to create a misleading and deceptive message. Furthermore, the supposed article attributed to the Turks and Caicos Weekly News is fabricated and bears no connection to an actual publication or any legitimate news source.

The Governor’s Office urges members of the public to disregard this content in its entirety and not to share or engage with it in any way. It is part of what appears to be a growing trend of malicious AI-generated disinformation designed to mislead and exploit.

As a reminder, all official information from the Governor or the Governor’s Office is communicated through verified government channels and platforms. We strongly encourage individuals to rely solely on trusted sources when seeking updates or statements from the Government or its representatives.
