Turks and Caicos residents are being urged to check their passports well ahead of travel as the Department of Citizenship and Naturalization reports a seasonal spike in applications.

The Passport Office reminds travelers that passports must be valid for at least six months before boarding international flights. To avoid disruption, officials recommend applying for renewals at least 10 weeks before travel.

Processing times for British Overseas Territory Citizen (BOTC) passports are currently slower than usual due to the summer increase in applications.

Emergency passports, officials stressed, are only issued under strict conditions — including requests from InterHealth Canada for urgent medical transfers abroad, or for government officials and parliamentarians traveling on critical business.

More information and application forms can be found at www.gov.tc/passports.
