Appointment of the Leader of the Opposition

On the 13th February 2025, pursuant to section 56(1) of the Turks and Caicos Islands Constitution Order 2011, Her Excellency the Governor appointed Hon. Edwin A. Astwood, leader of the Peoples’ Democratic Movement as the Leader of the Opposition; as per the section, Hon. Astwood had demonstrated to Her Excellency the Governor in writing that he commands the support of the majority of the members of the Parliament in opposition to the Government.

Appointment of Cabinet

On the 13th February 2025, acting on the advice of the Hon. Premier Charles Washington Misick OBE JP, Her Excellency the Governor appointed the Thirteenth Cabinet of the Turks and Caicos Islands at a service held at St. Monica’s Church, Providenciales.

Proclamation

On the 13th February 2025, pursuant to section 66(1) of the Turks and Caicos Islands Constitution Order 2011, Her Excellency the Governor signed a proclamation summoning the Thirteenth Legislature of Parliament for its first session at 10:00am on Friday 21st February 2025 at the Parade Grounds, Grand Turk.
