PUBLIC NOTICE TO CEASE ALL UNAUTHORISED AND ILLEGAL GAMING ACTIVITY AROUND THE TURKS & CAICOS ISLANDS

Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands, 20th November 2024 – The Gaming Control Commission, was established to regulate and ensure the integrity of the gaming industry in the Turks & Caicos Islands. Accordingly, the Commission aims to address an outstanding issue that can contribute to strife and discord within the community. It is essential for the Commission to establish and promote a culture of compliance within the gaming industry, fostering transparency and fairness.

To effectively perform its duties as the Supervisor for the gaming industry, the Commission hereby issues this Public Notice to all individuals and businesses to cease all facilitation and participation in illegal gaming and/or gambling activities in the Turks & Caicos Islands. This directive is in accordance with the Section 3 of Casinos Ordinance. Only gaming conducted in a licensed venue and in compliance with all applicable laws and Ordinances is permitted.

Furthermore, all residents and businesses should be reminded that Section 46 of the Casinos Ordinance provides for penalties on summary conviction for anyone who participates in any form of gaming deemed illegal. Section 47 of the same Ordinance criminalises the possession of any instrument intended or adapted for gaming without a lawful excuse. If convicted, individuals can be subject to a fine and a term of imprisonment.

In light of this, investigations and enforcement actions will be undertaken in partnership with the Royal Turks & Caicos Island Police Force. The Commission and its partners are fully committed to conducting all enforcement activities in a transparent manner and in strict accordance with the law.
