Updates from the Magistrate’s Court including American charged with Overstaying his Visit

#TurksandCaicos, April 15, 2024 – In the Magistrate’s court Providenciales on Tuesday April 2, 2024, the following matters were listed and called:
DAYNA CRUZ SOLO 43 of Butterfield Drive, Kew Town, was charged with Assault occasioning actual bodily harm (A.O.A.B.H). The accused speaks Spanish, and the matter was adjourned for mention later this (April) month. The investigating and charging officer is PC Etena Auguste. Bail has been extended.
He is 61 years old, JAMES STANLEY GODOT, of Kew Town, Providenciales, appeared once again on a Sexual assault charge. Inspector Ena Wilson charged the accused, and the matter was transferred to another Magistrate for trial. The accused pleaded not guilty, and his bail is extended to a further date in this (April 2024) month. Mr. Finbar Grant represents him.
She is 57 years old. Attorney, Mr. Chal Misick, represents DELIVRANCE CHERENFANT of Haiti on three counts of Harboring illegals. She is on bail until her trial on April 16th. Immigration officer, in this case, is William Harvey.
ANEIL LIGHTBORNE 23 of Blue Hills, Providenciales, charged with, Possession of control drugs and Possession of control drugs with intent to supply. The Turks Island-American is on bail and pleaded guilty. The matter was adjourned to a later date. Sgt Latoya Rigby of Tactical Unit is arresting and charging officer in this matter.
American ROGER SCOTT HOFFMAN, 68 of Tuscany in Grace Bay appeared in court for extradition after allegedly remaining in the islands beyond the permitted time. His matter is still before the Magistrate’s court. He pleaded not guilty, and a new date was assigned the case.

The Heart Strong TCI initiative was designed to actively engage the community through education, outreach, and physical activity.

Educational Training Sessions
Healthcare professionals conducted structured sessions addressing hypertension, diabetes, cholesterol management, nutrition, exercise, smoking cessation, and the early warning signs of heart disease.
House Call Talk Show Feature
A dedicated Heart Month episode of the hospital’s House Call program provided expert discussion on cardiovascular risk factors and prevention strategies, empowering viewers with practical, evidence-based guidance.
Red Fridays Awareness Campaign
Throughout the month, staff wore red every Friday to increase visibility around heart disease awareness and reinforce the campaign’s message within the community.
Heart Strong 5K Walk/Run
In collaboration with the Rotary Club, TCI Hospital hosted a community-wide 5K walk/run to promote physical activity as a cornerstone of
heart health. The walk/run also provided an opportunity for community screening.
Digital Health Education Campaign
To expand its reach, TCI Hospital also shared ongoing heart health education tips and prevention messages across its social media platforms, including Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram. These posts provided actionable guidance on diet, exercise, blood pressure control, and lifestyle modification, and encouraging community members to learn CPR.
