Deputy Leader of the People’s Democratic Movement (PDM), Robert Been has cited illegal immigration, the high cost of living, rising crime/violence, healthcare issues, lack of opportunities, as very pressing issues besetting the nation.

In a statement during the announcement of his party’s five all-island candidates late last week, Mr. Been underscored that underemployment among the people, the poor state of roads and infrastructure, access to capital stand very high as priority concerns for the Opposition as it finalises plans for the upcoming General Election.

Stressing that he deems it an honour to serve the people of Turks Caicos Islands (TCI), under the “visionary leadership” of the  Hon. Edwin Astwood, he said Mr. Astwood is a man with a “heart that is focused on lifting our people up.

“This team of men and women share the collective know ledge, experience, and most of all, the commitment and determination to bring positive change to our nation. This is the team with the talent, skills, capacity, and ability to get the job done,” Mr. Been said.

He added that the PDM team is committed to working for the people’s interest, to improve the lives and livelihoods of all Turks and Caicos Islanders, declaring that the population is “unhappy with the current state of affairs, we have heard you and are committed to making measurable changes in TCI,” the Deputy PDM Leader stated.

Adding further, Mr. Been said his party fully understands that the voters want to see men and women who place people-first, who are ready to be freedom fighters and to represent on all levels, and his team  needs the support of each of every citizen to contribute to their country, as it is time to prioritize Turks and Caicos Islanders, with a Government that “ensures your vision is always included and considered in the continued building of our great nation,” he said.
