25-Year-Old man is Latest arrest in Jumillo Isma Cell Phone Case; arraigned last week

#TurksandCaicos, April 15, 2024 – On Wednesday, April  10th 2024, police of the Serious Crime Unit ( UK overseas specialist officers) placed another young man, age 25 before the Hon. Chief Magistrate Mr. Jolyon Hatmin on three charges of conspiracy in connection with the evolving and ongoing investigation linked to deceased, alleged gangster JUMILLO ISMA and his reportedly confiscated cellphone.

The newest person of interest is a beach attendant and goes by the name GREGORY LOUIS. In court on April 10th, LOUIS was arraigned on charges of:-

  • Conspiracy to possess ammunition
  • Conspiracy to supply a firearm

  • Conspiracy to supply ammunition

The allegations read: ’….that you, Gregory Louis, along with JUMILLO ISMA, acting together with others unknown, did conspire to supply a firearm, ammunition, and to possess ammunition.’

Gregory Louis makes the eighth individual now charged and brought before the court pertaining to the same cellphone. The crimes for which LOUIS is charged are alleged to have transpired between May 13th, 2021 and May 5th, 2023.

The newly accused man was represented by Mr. Ashwood Forbes at the Magistrate’s Court. He was not required to enter a plea, and after explaining to him the procedural guidelines, LOUIS was remanded until  June 7th, when he will reappear for his sufficiency hearing.

Mrs. Latisha Williams-Bruce has applied to the Supreme Court for bail on his behalf.

All other individuals charged in this conspiracy ring have been granted bail except for GINO GERBEX, who police took into custody at the Howard Hamilton International Airport in Providenciales; reportedly caught attempting to leave the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Inquiring as to if others are likely to be arrested and charged in relation to this same cellphone and the said deceased individual, Magnetic Media was told yes, others may be charged and face the court as well.

This investigation is not yet concluded, confirmed officers of the Serious Crime Unit.

All the above named individuals were due to appear for sufficiency hearings on Friday April 12, however, all hearings pertaining to the investigation have been moved to the month of May.
