#TurksandCaicos, March 4, 2024 – Convicted fire starter, Cedric Simms was sentenced to 11 years in jail for the major offence of arson, when he tried to burn down a house where his estranged wife was living during  their separation.

Back in January, Magnetic media was contacted by a number of Grand Turk residents when they learned the news early in the new year that his Lordship The Hon. Mr. Justice Davidson Kevin Baptiste found one of the most notorious Grand Turk menace fire starters CEDRIC SIMMS guilty of setting fire to a dwelling home with his wife and his sister in law therein.

The couple had separated prior to the fire attack, and the wife had moved in with her sister. The now convicted Firestarter tried with no success to rekindled their relationship.

The wife was not having it.

It was then on his birthday after begging his wife to come back home for his birthday, on 12th/13th November 2022 he threatened to set the place on fire and now convicted of doing so.

The Supreme Court judge alone trial came to a close on Tuesday January 9, 2024 with the guilty verdict against SIMMS.   On Tuesday February 27, the judge sentenced the man to 11 years at the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

Ms. Sophia Sandy-Smith appeared for the office of the DPP and Mrs. Lara Maroof Misick is representing the defendant.
