#TurksandCaicos, December 5, 2023 – On Monday November 6, 2023, in the Providenciales Supreme Court before her Ladyship Tanya Lobban-Jackson, the firearm and ammunition trial that was scheduled to commence, in the case against former ambulance driver, GINNY BENJAMIN could not proceed due to his non- attendance.

The matter last came up on July 7th 2023, when the Court learned that the accused told his defense counsel he had left the country and is not returning. He was arrested and remanded in 2021 but later granted bail to attend court for his trial.

Magnetic Media learned that the Crown may have been barred from going after the person(s) who signed his bail became they had approached the Court and the Office of the DPP to remove them as surety because they were made aware of the accused’s intention to abscond.

The Court, despite, directed that Ginny Benjamin’s name be called on the outside, which is normal procedure when a Defendant or a witness does not attend and before a warrant is issued.

The Court officer did as instructed, shouting loudly: “GINNY BENJAMIN”… with a three second break between.  Not surprisingly, she returned in the court and reported: “no appearance, my lady.”

The bench warrant for the arrest of Benjamin was reinforced and reissued.

His former lawyer, Lara Maroof-Misick was not in court either; her last representation was on July 6, 2023.
