55 Year old Good Samaritan killed in rainy night Roadside accident

#TurksandCaicos, November 25, 2023 – Police have confirmed the death of a man by the roadway Saturday night but official details were days in coming about  whether this was truly a good deed that ended in heartbreak, as reported by residents on Saturday November 18.

On Tuesday November 21, 2023, Royal TCI Police issued a statement saying:

Eric De Montigny was officially identified as the victim who lost his life in a vehicular incident on November 18th , 2023.

Initial reports state around 6.25 p.m., the Police Control Room received a report of a motor vehicle accident along Princess Drive, Grace Bay, Providenciales. Preliminary investigations revealed that Mr. De Montigny, 55, and a 47-year-old male were changing a vehicle tire when another vehicle collided with them.

Mr. De Montigny died at the scene, while the 47-year-old was transported to the Cheshire Hall Medical Centre. The Traffic Enforcement Unit officers are investigating the circumstances surrounding the cause of this motor vehicle incident.

There’s still no indication about whether anyone is in custody or assisting with the investigation.
