October 4, 2023 – How much will the multinational force to Haiti cost? This is the question the United States and other nations are unable to answer at the moment, they expressed in a report.
The US, from the get go, has been working somewhat behind the scenes to help Haiti, leaving other nations to take the lead such as Kenya, the nations spearheading the soon to come multinational force.
Like other nations, America has pledged to contribute in some way to the mission and for them, it’s monetary as they say they are willing to give a sum of USD$200 million to help fund the mission. However this is seemingly an estimate for what would be sufficient for funding such a large scale mission.
Referring to their efforts for funding, on behalf of the US, ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield, said, “We intend to work with our Congress to provide $100 million in support and then the Department of Defense is prepared to provide robust enabling support, that will be up to $100 million as well.”
She further expressed that they have the resolution to fall back on against not knowing fully the cost of the mission.
“And while we don’t know ultimately, in the end, what this will cost, we will be looking now that we have this resolution in place, for the contribution of other countries.”
The date for the mission is yet to be announced or decided. However, what has been decided in the intention of the mission which boils down to rescuing the nation from gang control, bringing it to a rest where proper authorities can reclaim control, bringing back economic, social and political health.
