#Jamaica, October 19, 2023 – Jamaica’s dengue cases are climbing according to the Ministry of Health and Wellness as of October 17th, sitting at 434 confirmed and seven dengue related deaths.

The confirmed cases come from 2,107 suspected and presumed and this comes just under a week after the Ministry expressed concern for the potential increasing of cases to severe levels and so requested voluntary blood donations.

Of the seven dengue related deaths, reports say five are suspected and two confirmed.

Still, the highest number of cases are reported to be from Kingston and St Andrew, standing at 600.  However, St. Thomas maintains the highest rate of 310.4 cases per 100,000 population, with St Mary and Portland not far behind.
