#TurksandCaicos, August 11, 2023 – As the new week began, residents of Providenciales were still waiting for official information on what witnesses had described as a “serious” Friday night shooting.

Magnetic Media received several reports late August 4th, of a barrage of gunshots heard in the Blue Hills Community that promoted a significant police response.  Videos of the nighttime flurry of activity not only showed traffic being briefly diverted as police rushed to the community but confirmed that at least “49 shots” were fired into the area.

That area, we are told, was close to a resident’s home and a number of those bullets made it inside, but thankfully no fatalities were reported.  Residents who were near the area described the event.

“They just shot up [redacted] house— boy some big ol guns!” one said.

Another witness account shared with the news team, described the scene as a number of police vehicles laid in wait. Included in that number was one of the new armored trucks said to be able to withstand the heavy artillery gangsters are known to have in their possession.

By Monday afternoon, police released this account of the incident which marred the start to the weekend.

“Based on preliminary police reports, at around 7:47 p.m. last Friday (August 04th), the Police Control Room received multiple calls that gunshots were being heard in the area of Old Bay Road, Blue Hills.

A team of officers from the Tactical, Beat and Patrol, and Air Support Units responded.  While at the scene, officers received information that two males-ages 23 and 25 – were at the Cheshire Hall Medical Center seeking treatment for gunshot wounds.

At around, 8:43 p.m., the Police Control Room received calls of another shooting and proceeded to the location of Residence Yard, Five Cays.  Investigations are ongoing.”

Motive remained a mystery in the shooting; there has been no announcement since on the condition of the men shot and whether police have any suspects.

A call for assistance in the investigation was made however, “The public is being advised to notify the closest police station, contact 911 or TCI CrimeStoppers at 1-800-8477 and give any information on this shooting and other illegal activities anonymously.”
