#TheBahamas, August 18, 2023 – The Bahamian Government has made ties with Hub350 and the Kanata North Business Association (KNBA), forming a transformative partnership to aid in the enhancement of the country’s technological capacity as well as promote tech tourism and sustainable development.

This new relationship comes following the combined effort and strategic negotiation of  I. Chester Cooper, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Investments & Aviation; Ginger Moxey, Minister for Grand Bahama and The Bahamas High Commission, under the leadership of High Commissioner V. Alfred Gray and First Secretary Nahaja Black.

Moxey and Minister Zane Lightbourne and Wayde Watson, Parliamentary Secretary, led a delegation, visiting the Hub350 and KNBA premises in Canada’s largest technology park on February 4th, 2023. Following this, their dedication to fostering innovation and growth was seen by Hub350 and KNBA, and so, the partnership was formed.

This union, in the eyes of the Government, can create innovative solutions for tech tourism, AgriTech, EduTech, climate resilience, and sustainability, which are fundamental to the growth of the nation’s economy and the well-being of its people.

Additionally, the partnership focuses on talent development and the exploration of opportunities for educational institutions throughout The Bahamas and within Hub350’s Partner Ecosystem to co-create programs for student and faculty exchange, dual enrollment opportunities, scholarship programs and more.

Also,  facilitating  global expansion opportunities is on the agenda for Kanata North member companies as well as providing remote work opportunities for the park’s workers in The Bahamas, and attracting talent to explore opportunities in the park.

Moxey, who leads the Innovate242 initiative in The Bahamas, expressed excitement for having Hub350 as a partner.

“We are excited to have Hub350 as a partner in Innovate242, as we develop a robust tech ecosystem focused on research and sustainable development in the blue, green and orange economies, and establish the Bahamas as the Centre of Innovation for the Caribbean,” she said.

The collaboration with Hub350 and KNBA is seen as a significant milestone in The Bahamas’ road to creating a strong technology industry.
