Brief updates on UK Ministry of Defense

#TurksandCaicos, August 14, 2023 – The upskilling of local armed forces continues with a recent visit to the Turks and Caicos by the UK Ministry of Defence. Though updates were brief, we are told Dileeni Daniel Selvaratnam, TCI Governor, hosted the delegation which was in the country to discuss training opportunities for the TCI
Nineteen members only just returned from a regional program held jointly with the US called TRADEWINDS 2023.
The Governor also spoke with a US Delegation led by John Priddy, Executive Director of the US Air and Marine Operations (Customs and Border Protection) South West Region.
This meeting was focused on improving collaboration between the partner countries on national security by ‘understanding TCI’s maritime security challenges, particularly in relation to irregular migration, and opportunities to strengthen our partnership in tackling shared threats.’
