#TurksandCaicos, April 3, 2023 – Police believe they have got their guys in the string of robberies and rapes which set off alarm bells in Blue Hills, Providenciales and their suspects are teenaged-boys of 17 and 18-years-old.

In what police are calling a major breakthrough in the Blue Hills break-ins, the youngest is now 17 year old is staring at jail time after being charged with rape and robbery.  Police say he is one of two Blue Hills’ residents charged in the crime wave.

The minor appeared in court on March 28th and is also charged with using an imitation firearm during a February 24 robbery and assault incident.

He was back in court again on March 30th, this time alongside his co-accused, Damarian Palmer, 18; both are charged with carrying out a string of robberies across Providenciales including burglarizing schools.

Incidents occurred in Juba Sound, Grace Bay and Leeward Palms and include: four counts of burglary at the Turquoise Point Plaza; two counts of burglary at Wesley Methodist School and one count of burglary at M.I.L.L.S Institute.

The 17-year-old is also facing an additional charge of Handling Stolen Goods.

Though the teen is only facing one count of rape, at least two women were assaulted on separate occasions.  The incidents forced the Police to release a safety bulletin in March warning residents to be more secure.

The teenager has been remanded and will be back in court in three weeks on April 19th to answer to the robbery charge and on May 5th on the rape charge.

Superintendent Dean Holden, Head of Crime Safeguarding and Public Protection described the arrest and charges as a major breakthrough in the string of home invasions and said investigations are continuing.

Palmer has been granted $7,000 bail.
