#USA, March 23, 2023 – Miami Law Enforcement have been overruled in an attempt to extend the city’s curfew following a violent weekend. The city’s Commission which is its elected local government body voted to quash the curfew on Monday, after it had already been in effect for one night.

It lasted from 11:59 p.m. Sunday, until 6 a.m. Monday, after two fatal shootings. The violence caused the police to institute a curfew to quell chaos caused by an influx of spring break tourists in the popular South Beach area. US media houses say at least three guns were recovered after two people were injured on Friday night; one fatally and another man was killed on Sunday night.

Miami has had recurring problems during spring break especially in the popular South Beach area. If the curfew for this weekend was passed, thousands of visitors who travel for the weekend would have been forced to stay indoors, sacrificing thousands in revenue for local businesses .
