Leading Marine Supply Store Destroyed by Fire

#TurksandCaicos, March 6, 2023 – A long-standing, local family business went up in smoke in the wee hours of Thursday (March 2, 2023) morning; this time in Providenciales. It was S. Walkin and Sons Marine Sales and Services in Blue Hills that suffered the unfortunate fate.

Videos of firefighters battling the massive blaze were shared with our news team and despite their efforts, the building was not saved, ravaged by the flames. The fire was contained to the marine store and did not spread to the Rubis Gas Station, which could have been disastrous.

The area of the business serves as a shopping mall and repair shop for fishermen and many others in the marine industry.

Walkin Marine, as it is commonly called, has for years served the fishing and marine industry of the Turks and Caicos. To see the building completely gutted, the roof caved in and the contents scorched beyond recognition is gut-wrenching.

At this point, it is unknown if anything was saved or what caused the fire. Magnetic Media has reached out to the police for comment.
