#TheBahamas, February 11, 2023 – During a Free National Movement (FNM) meeting Wednesday night, leader Michael Pintard accused the government of being “undemocratic,” saying their questions about many national issues are being ignored.
The view by the FNM led to a boisterous protest in the House of Assembly, which led to the Speaker suspending debate to next week.
“They (the Davis Administration) have proven over and over again that they are unwilling to be democratic and consult with Opposition much in the same way they have been unwilling to consult with various private sector groups even when they are making decisions that could dismantle the lives of various Bahamian businesses persons,” said Pintard.
Pintard was assured during the House meeting that the Opposition’s questions would be addressed on February 20th. He argued that the administration cannot be trusted and continued to shout “answer the questions” in protest.
Later that night, during an FNM meeting, Pintard said the party will be calling on the heads of public corporations to answer the people’s questions starting next week. He reassured Bahamians that both the FNM as official Opposition, will continue to “stand up and speak up” on their behalf.
